Sumdog Competition Winners

WHIZZKIDS are celebrating after their numbers came up in a top competition.
Children from Eskdale Academy, in Hartlepool, have won the Sumdog UK National Maths Contest.
During the contest, some 9,071 students answered a total of 1,832,550 maths questions.
Sixteen Year 6 pupils from Eskdale Academy answered 13,126 questions correctly between them, making the school the national overall winner.
Sumdog is a free online programme that offers educational games to motivate pupils to practise maths, reading and writing.
Steph Smith, key stage leader, maths co-ordinator and Year 6 teacher at the school, said: “The children go online and play games and it helps them with their maths.
“We went on and actually won the national competition.
“We have also won a local competition since then.
“I am really proud of them and the kids absolutely loved taking part. Other classes in the school are also starting to use it.”
A spokesman for Sumdog wrote to the pupils and said: “Congratulations on your fantastic achievement.”
