In this week’s Article of the Week, we’re focusing on another timely and important awareness event related to rights – LGBT+ History Month which we celebrate every February. This year is even more special, as we see the 50th anniversary of the very first Pride March in the UK.
LGBT+ History Month is all about promoting fairness, equality and diversity. It aims to give voice to LGBT+ experiences, celebrate achievements and highlight the challenges people still face today.
We’re looking at this topic through the lenses of Articles 2, 13 and 17. There are activities to help your learners reflect on their identity and think about how they can support others to feel safe and comfortable to be their true selves, whether that’s in your school, community or beyond. The pack is also full of information about the experiences of LGBT+ community, in the past and today, as learning is an essential step to becoming a true ally.
