New School Meal Service Launching September 2021

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

We would like to welcome all Eskdale Academy pupils to a new school meal service launching in September 2021.

Hartlepool Borough Council (Catering Services) is delighted to have been invited to work with Eskdale Academy and we are excited to be bringing you a new, improved school meal service commencing at the start of the new academic year.

We are a well-established service that has provided school lunches across the town for many years. We currently work with around 30 schools in the primary and secondary sector and serve approximately one million meals each year. As the local authority provider, we have a genuine interest in the overall success of Hartlepool’s schools and the wellbeing of the town’s children.

Our aim is to always ensure that our catering service provides food that the pupils will enjoy, that our meals offer value for money to parents and we meet all of the expectations of our schools.

All meals are freshly prepared in school each morning and meet the rigorous School Food guidelines set out by the Government. Eskdale Academy pupils will notice the benefits from our generous portions of fresh food from our healthy menus from the very first day of our service.

You will still be able to order pupils meals using the new online ParentPay model the school have introduced.

If your child doesn't already stay for a school meal, September would be the ideal time to encourage them to try it. As our new service launches, they might be surprised by the quality and variety of the food items we will have on offer. Special dietary needs are also catered for.

Free School Meals

We would like every child who is entitled to a free school meal to take up this opportunity.

All school pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are currently entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) to ensure they receive a hot, healthy meal at lunchtime. This could save you more than £400 per year for your child – so why miss out?

Parents claiming certain benefits can also apply for free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Hartlepool school and who would normally be at school at lunch time.

Please telephone 01429 284188 or visit the Hartlepool Borough Council website at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals to check eligibility for free school meals and to apply.
