EDEN Academy Trust

Dear Parents / Carers

Welcome back to the start of the Autumn Term – I trust you and your family had an enjoyable summer.

I am writing this letter to you as the CEO to tell you about some exciting changes to the Academy Trust – the family of Schools in which Eskdale Academy sits.

After a long period of consultation with stakeholders across the Trust, it has been decided to rename Stranton Academy Trust as ‘The Eden Academy Trust’.

Why the Change?

As some of you may or may not know; the Stranton Academy Trust – within which all of our Schools sit; was established back in 2012 to meet a local need. The Academy process was all conducted very quickly and required Stranton School to become a sponsoring academy – and therefore the name the ‘Stranton Academy Trust’ was created.

A lot has happened since that time… Owton Manor Primary School joined the Trust in 2013 and has since become Eskdale Academy and Jesmond Gardens School has now joined the Trust – and we are now all working together for the greater good of our children and communities – and as such a very different organisation to what we were back in 2012.

With this in mind, and in wanting to elaborate on the fact we are now all working together (and not with a ‘lead’ School as such); we wanted a name more in keeping with the idea of collaboration and in line with the vision and values we have for our Schools.

What does being a School in the ‘Eden Academy Trust’ mean?

Being part of Eden Academy Trust provides so many additional opportunities for your children.

The Trust is made up of 3 highly performing Schools full of outstanding staff all working together to ensure each and every child gets the best possible outcomes and experience of School as possible.

While we realise it is important each School maintains its own identify, I firmly believe we can build even greater strength by bringing groups of like-minded, driven professionals together to facilitate massive gains for all.

Every school within the Eden Academy Trust has a very clear vision for our children and families:

‘To work together to create a better future for all, through a culture of :

· no excuses

· no limits

· complete integrity

· … and only the highest of expectations.

and our Key purpose: To make a difference. To prepare children to reach their ambitions and dreams in life

What does this mean for my child/ren?

Teaching staff from the Trust Schools are planning and working together – creating many exceptional learning opportunities. Last year for example, over 100 of the Trust Year 4 children came together for a magical (and wet) camping experience – following their topic on Bear Grylls. This term children from all 3 Schools will be working together on topics such as: Lets Perform’, ‘Heroes and Villains’, ‘Could it be magic?’ and ‘I’m a survivor’ – with many more exciting adventures ahead.

The quality of teaching your child receives (although already Outstanding) will improve and develop as staff share from and learn from each other; continually reflecting upon and developing their own practice, whilst Key Trust staff ensure all Schools provide outstanding value for money and the most inclusive practice for all.

In the ever changing educational landscape, it is so reassuring I have so many brilliant School leaders and staff working together to make a difference for your child/ren and can’t wait to see Eden Academy Trust go from strength to strength.

Yours Sincerely
