Music Lead

Music is a universal language that everyone can access, understand and appreciate. Our music lessons are engaging and encourage pupil’s creativity.

At Eskdale Academy we see Music as an important aspect of a child’s development.

Eskdale Academy follows an interesting and progressive curriculum. Our music scheme enables children to understand musical concepts through a repetition-based approach to learning. Learning about the same musical concept through different musical activities which enables a more secure, deeper learning and mastery of musical skills.

Children are given the opportunity to;

  • ·play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts,

  • use their voices and play musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression,

  • improvise and compose music for a range of purposes,

  • listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory,

  • use and understand musical notations,

  • appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians

  • to develop an understanding of the history of music.

Music is an extremely important subject for all children to learn and can lead to better brain development, increases in human connection, and even

stress relief.
